Our PERUVIAN MYRRH is a premium quality Myrrh from Peru. While most Myrrh comes from the Commiphora shrub, we believe Peruvian Myrrh to be sourced from the Styrax genus, however the scent is very similar – a sweet, balsamic scent perfect for lovers of quality resins; the colour is also slightly lighter than most Myrrhs. This version contains beautiful resin pieces / powder – straight from the plant. The resin is obtained by making incisions in the bark of the tree, allowing the sap to be collected and dried into pellet form. MYRRH has been known to be used as incense for more than 3500 years, and was the basis of many early perfumes. The aroma is spicy and delicate, and is considered to be profoundly calming and restorative. Myrrh mixes well with Frankincense, which is why the two are often found as a pair.
