CLARY SAGE (Salvia sclarea), India.

Clary Sage is closely related to garden and Spanish sage. Its name derives from the Latin ‘clarus’, meaning ‘clear’, possibly due to the historical use of the herb to clear mucus from the eyes.

Clary Sage is well known for its euphoric action – an extremely valuable oil for treating nervousness, weakness, fear, paranoia and depression. Clary sage is also believed to encourage dreams (avoid alcohol during use). Its antispasmodic and emmenagogue properties make it useful for treating uterine problems, menstrual disorders and the effects of menopause. In skin and haircare Clary Sage is known to reduce excessive production of sebum.
