COPAIBA OIL RESIN (Copaifera officinalis), Brazil.

Copaiba Oleoresin Oil is a thin pourable oil extracted from the resin found in the trunk of the pinnate-leaved copaiba tree (genus Copaifera), which grows in tropical Latin America – the resin is tapped from standing trees and then filtered for purity.

Copaiba oil-resins have been used medicinally by the natives of north and northeastern Brazil, dating back to the 16th century in the treatment of various diseases. In the 21st century, studies have shown Copaiba has anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-tetanus, antiseptic, anti-microbial, wound-healing and antihemorrhagic properties. Copaiba is believed to assist in tissue repair making it good for damaged and problem skin.

In perfumery, the base-note oil is used as a fixative in perfumes and fragrances. Within the Peruvian Amazon, Copaiba is also used as an insect repellent.
